Rotational Load Sensors

Fiber-optic Rotational Load Sensors

Monitoring torque and rotational stress is essential in mechanical systems from wind turbines to aerospace actuators.

Proximion’s FBG fiber-optic rotational load sensors measure torque by detecting torsional strain in optical fibers.

Sensing Principle

Proximion’s FBG fiber-optic rotational load sensors measure forces, load pattern, speed and rotation directions by detecting strain in optical fibers.

A FBG optical fiber sensor bonded to the bearing will experience a strain as the rolling element are passing the sensor. The induced strain produces a change in the FBG period. A fast and precision interrogation unit translates this into load measurement.

By combining mechanical design with optical sensor support, we deliver high-fidelity sensor solutions that can endure harsh environments. Our calibration ensures linearity and repeatability under cyclic loads.
