With the colorless Tunable Dispersion Compensation Module (TDCM), Proximion takes the next step in dispersion management. Like our other dispersion compensation products, the TDCM is fabricated utilizing Proximion’s proprietary and field proven Fiber Bragg Grating manufacturing technology with nanometer precision. The excellent control of the grating writing process ensures very low levels of group delay ripple over the full wavelength range.
The Proximion TDCM features state-of-art functionalities from colorlessness and wide symmetrical dispersion tuning range, to low loss and broad optical bandwidth. Due to the colorless operation identical products can be used for all channels across the full C-band spectra. The TDCM tightly controls the dispersion with a continuous tunability reaching from -700 to +700 ps/nm. The low loss and broad bandwidth makes it excellent for 40 Gb/s applications.
Moreover, its superior form factor and the low power dissipation allows compact system solutions at the transceiver line-card. In addition, integrated control electronics featuring a digital interface simplifies implementation and removes the need for external calibration tables and driver circuits normally required.
Proximion’s TDCM could also be used as in-line dispersion compensators in 10 Gb systems, where the TDCM simultaneously compensates for all ITU channels, replacing a number of different fixed dispersion compensation modules.
