We high-lighted the key advantages using Proximion´s DCM-FB which enables new ways of building optical transmission systems. We believe that Proximion´s DCM-FB has everything needed to replace traditional DCFs in most, if not all, applications reducing substantially both Capex and Opex. The DCM-FB shows also superior advantages compared to traditional channelized solutions.

During the past couple of years Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) based dispersion compensators have become an alternative to dispersion compensating fibers (DCFs). Proximion's new FBG based dispersion compensating module is a technical breakthrough both in terms of dispersion compensating performance and in FBG technology. Through a very advanced grating manufacturing process we are able to make FBG based Dispersion Compensating Modules (DCMs) that combine the low loss performance of FBGs and the channel plan independence of dispersion compensating fiber. This technology has now been implemented into Proximion´s Full Band FB-serie, a DCM that enables new ways of building optical networks. This paper describes the technology together with some system aspects and applications using DCM-FB.
