Interrogator for fiber Bragg grating based temperature monitoring
Launch of a high capacity interrogator for Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) based optical sensors capable of improving monitoring capacity, interrogation speed and accuracy in industrial environments. The interrogator monitors up to 1,000 sensor points in 13 optical fibers.
Kista, Sweden, Proximion AB, today announced the launch of WistSense, a new interrogator for monitoring of distributed high accuracy sensor arrays. With an integrated high speed optical switch and an ultra-fast scanning filter the WistSense interrogator can monitor up to 13 optical fibers, each with approximately 80 sensing points, in less than 400 milliseconds with single picometer accuracy.
WistSense uses an ultra-fast FBG based scanning filter capable of acquiring high accuracy data within 30 milliseconds per channel or optical fiber. The accuracy of each complete scan cycle is below 4 picometer.
Based on Proximions patented fiber Bragg grating filter technology, WistSense offers a robust design with integrated high speed electronics and a powerful SDK for tailored temperature monitoring system design.
Over the past few years, Proximion has been designing and producing complete temperature monitoring systems including interrogator and analysis software on an OEM basis. In addition to the launch of WistSense, Proximion today also launched Wistheat, a new series of fiber optical sensors for temperature monitoring. WistSense together with WistHeat provides an ideal turnkey solution for distributed temperature sensing in harsh environment processes and industries.
Proximion will showcase WistSense at the Sensor + Test exhibition in booth number 476, 19-21 May 2015 in Nürnberg, Germany. Proximion will also host a presentation at the exhibition on May 19 at 12.30 in Hall 11: “High density fiber array sensors for temperature monitoring 600°C and high speed interrogator with 10,000 temperature readouts per second”.
