Proximion Launches Single Channel Dispersion Compensation Module

Compact solution offers higher flexibility and superior performance at lower cost

Shenzhen, China – September 03, 2008 —Proximion Fiber Systems AB today announced the launch of its new single channel dispersion compensation module (DCM-SC). As a cost-effective solution, DCM-SC delivers increased flexibility and superior performance in a small form factor. In addition, the wide optical bandwidth and the low group delay ripple ensure high transmission quality.

The DCM-SC extends single channel SDH/SONET/GE system reach otherwise limited by the dispersion tolerance of the transceivers. The low loss of the DCM-SC enables a system solution without amplifiers in a cost effective way. With the new DCM-SC, Proximion is now delivering a high-performance/low-cost solution that complements the company’s dispersion compensation product portfolio. Proximion also offers the option of different customized wavelengths, suitable for other applications and network solutions.

Proximion’s unique and proprietary FBG manufacturing technology produces high-performance dispersion compensation modules with the advantages of having no non-linear effects, no latency and having a very low power loss compared to the alternative of traditional dispersion compensating fibers (DCFs).

DCM-SC is currently available on volume basis.

Proximion will showcase DCM-SC at CIOE on September 06 – 09, Booth Number A407/408 and at ECOC on September 22-24, Booth 317.
